Integrating Operational Excellence and Risk Management Approaches; Tools for Achieving Breakthrough in Economic Medical Device Manufacturing

Eoin Barry's recent presentation at the MedTec Ireland conference focused on integrating operational excellence with risk managment in the manufacture of medical devices.

Successful six sigma practitioners leverage six sigma process performance to achieve breakthrough improvements in complexity reduction, cost and customer satisfaction. The presentation communicated an overview of the integration of a system of medical device manufacturing risk management with the Six Sigma DMAIC methodology. A tool to precisely link validation goals and six sigma was presented. This presentation had implications for economics process validation and reliable process sigma level evaluation.

After the presentaiton there was a healthy discussion on the implications for process validaiton. Of particular interest was the presentation and development of the Six Sigma Tolerance Interval.
